Falcon Cup U.N.C.F. – Sunday, February 15

On Sunday, February 15th, hawks and Harris’s buzzards will fly to our beloved Ghirlandina Racecourse to challenge each other in the highly anticipated U.N.C.F. Falcon Cup.

Organized by the National Union of Falconry Hunters, a sector of the Italian Hunting Federation, the UNFC Falcon Cup is a speed race in which falcons and buzzards will compete until the last flight.

The falcons will be divided into two categories, based on weight (up to 800 grams and more), on a 200-meter track, while the buzzards will face a 100-meter course.

However, it is not just a speed race: the Falcon Cup celebrates the relationship of trust between the bird of prey and its falconer, a rare, silent bond built over time. It does not come from domination, but from listening. Not by force, but by respect.

This is why we are extremely honored to be able to host such a significant event at the Ghirlandina Hippodrome, in via Ragazzi del 99′, 80/1.
For those who cannot resist until Sunday 15 February, on Saturday 14 February the Hippodrome will be open to allow birds of prey and falconers to practice at their best for the great challenge of the following day.

To participate in the event, reservations are required.
