Gran Premio Giovanardi:
A historic race since 1890
Edition ’23
The Tito Giovanardi Grand Prix is the oldest grand prix in Modena. The first edition dates back to 1890, the year in which Duce was imposed.
But in the years that followed, the race gradually became increasingly important and even today it plays a fundamental role in the national trotting calendar, being the first of the four major Group I events reserved for three-year-old colts on the road to the Derby.
In this race, very representative for the Modenese people, authentic champions such as Mistero, Esotico Prad, Mint di Jesolo, Vicking Kronos, Daguet Rapide and, more recently, Vivid Wise As and Callmethebreeze have won over time.

A great honor to return to host the Military Academy of Modena. In recent years we have had the pleasure of hosting them on the occasion of the European Grand Prix and the previous editions of Modena nel Cuore. The cadets performed a splendid parade on horseback with a flag-raising.

Sunday 14 will see the celebration of the ‘Una vita in sella‘ project started on 13 December and organized by Equilandia Club, in collaboration with Il Centauro APS. The project is aimed at students aged 11 to 18 in the province of Modena, certified or recommended by Social Services, and is based on sharing the experience with able-bodied classmates.
The project involves about a hundred students from institutes in Modena (Selmi, Cattaneo-Deledda, Muratori-San Carlo, IC4, IC5, IC10), from Spallanzani in Castelfranco and from the middle school in Nonantola.
The goal of Una vita in sella is to encourage the growth of the new generations through actions dedicated to inclusive training processes, with particular reference to all forms of disability.
The project sees the centrality of the figure of the horse, in whose work everyone is equally fundamental, and where the concept of equality is replaced with that of valuing differences.
With Una vita in sella we wanted to give the participating young people the opportunity to return to experience the pleasure of interpersonal relationships, severely limited by the last few years of the pandemic. Sport therefore represents a concrete response to support our children and, in particular, this type of sport with horses in the open air offers a range of educational possibilities and allows us to respond to their multiple needs.
Presented on 10 November, ‘Una vita in sella’ has the patronage of the Regional School Office and is made possible thanks to the contributions of the Bilanciai Cooperative Society of Campogalliano, the Lions Club of Castelfranco Emilia and Nonantola, the Casa del Freno of Modena and Koban Caffè of Belgioioso (PV).
